Revolta.jpg

I WAIT FOR TUA (RE) VOLTA   (Eliza Capai, Brazil)

In a pre-Bolsonaro Brazil, protests for better public education become massive, reaching a critical level.

With this documentary, Eliza Capai vindicates, based on her protegonists, years of social struggle in a country on the brink of the abyss.

Monday 9 - 18:30

ACID (Alexander Gorchilin, Russia)

Sasha and Petya are two young Russians plunged into a spiral of partying, drugs and few prospects. Their families despise them,  friends  disappear. In the cold of Moscow, nobody knows very well what he is doing.
A raw and incisive film about the state and hopes of a lost generation.

FIELD (Tiago Hespanha, Portugal)

Military base, bee farm, land for ornithologists and farmers, vault for amateur astronomers ...

COUNTRYSIDE  it is the crucible of the divine and the human.
A documentary bordering on fable that offers a bird's eye view of the world and all its things.

Tuesday 10 - 18:30

DIRTY GOD (Sacha Polak, The Netherlands)

Jade is a young English mother who survives  to the cowardly acid attack of his ex-partner. With her face marked for life, she must mature by leaps and bounds and avoid sinking into the misfortune and helplessness that lead to self-destruction.

A very powerful work, with the rawness and poetry that the fight against oneself (and the whole world) can suppose.

Wednesday 11 - 18:30

DIE GRUBE (Hristiana Raykova, Germany)

In the most famous thermal baths in Bulgaria you will find a microcosm where social class does not matter. A meeting place, currently despised by many, adored by its users.

The cormorant is one of the few bird species that is able to dive underwater in search of food, come back up to the surface, and fly again. That is why Cormorán Film Fest chooses this animal as a symbol of a certain type of cinema, one that reaches down in the depths of human condition, submerges in our social and emotional ins and outs, creating honest and strong films, without masks or fake impositions that limit the author and his team's point of view.

This small festival is no more than an attempt on encouraging the transgression and positive criticism on the seventh art, the power that cinema has always had to raise awareness and thrill.

Just as Parquet Courts suggest in their last album, Wide awake, we are living in confusing times, facing an uncertain future and at a first sight, a pretty rough one too. That is why, rather than just complaining about it, Cormorán proposes a search for solutions and the creation of awareness.

Because cinema is feeling, and with that, you can move nations.
